A Story From Doctor Travel's Speaking Annals:

I remember arriving in Jamaica for a business lecture and finding that sun block was all over my only suit. There was no dry cleaner open when I arrived Saturday evening and the stain was unable to be removed. I thought I had to give the entire speech in my shirt and tie, yet I knew it was a formal business audience. So I cleaned up the jacket the best I could, dabbed talcum power on the stains to absorb the oil, and left the coat outside to dry.

Upon arrival I held the coat over my arm complaining of the heat. My host, agreeing with my comments about the unusually high humidity and heat, offered to have me speak without my coat. I suggested that we make the same offer to the entire audience by saying, "Today's speaker wants you to remove your coat and roll up your sleeves. We are going to have a 'working lunch.' " The audience enjoyed the exercise and I did not look out of place in a formal business setting.

Now I pack all spillables in sealable plastic bags. Non-breakable bottles should be used for all liquids. Save these bottles from your shampoo, conditioner, ketchup, etc. Fill them and make sure the cap is tight by squeezing the bottle as you tighten it. This will create a suction which keeps the cap tight during the flight.
